Former Mad Lads lead singer John Gary Williams shines on his first and only solo effort and delivers some of the sweetest Southern soul that you'll ever hear.
His only solo outing came in 1973 with the release of the album 'Whole Damn World Is Going Crazy'.
Williams' aching, Southern style is aptly used on remakes of the Four Tops' 'Ask the Lonely,' and the Spinners' 'How Could I Let You Get Away,' and Bobby Goldboro's 'Honey,' giving the classics a whole new feel.
Williams also remade the Newcomers' little-known 'Open Up Your Heart (Let Me In)', a tender, syncopated ballad.
The title cut 'The Whole Damn World Is Going Crazy' showed promise when released as a single, but died a quick and sudden death. A shame, because it's a good piece of social commentary.
John sadly passed away in late May 2019, at his home in Memphis. He was 73.
Williams brother was Randy Brown.
